Welcome, everyone! I’m so excited that you’ve chosen to part of the HMS Chorus family! After all that has happened, this year is going to be different no doubt, but rest assured HMS Chorus will be better than ever! We are going to have a blast since we get to meet “live” everyday (unlike the spring)!
I’m sure you have questions . . . so do I! Will we be singing? Yes, but it will be different for awhile. I don’t know all of the answers, but I know that there have been lots of studies happening and we will follow guidelines and recommendations for singing. We will change some of the basics while we’re dealing with Covid-19, and as things improve we will work carefully to get back to singing together.
In the meanwhile, we will concentrate on getting everyone’s voice in great shape and refine our musical skills so we’ll be ready to sing together when the time comes.
I can’t wait to see everyone on Monday! Look for an email soon to give you some of the particulars about joining your class next week. Get ready for an awesome time in Universal Remote Learning! Let’s rock this year!
It’s that time! Tuesday, August 27 we will meet for the annual Chorus/Performing Arts Parents Meeting. Sixth Grade parents will meet from 6:00-7:00 pm and Seventh & Eighth Grade parents will meet from 7:00-8:00 pm. While we are meeting in the HMS Cafeteria, the band parents will meet in the gym and the orchestra parents will meet in the media center. If you happen to have students in two performing groups, you are welcome to attend either session (for either group) for general information. We will have a Q & A at the end of each session.
If you are unable to attend either session, we will have a recap email as a follow-up but of course, hope you’ll join us in person to get all of the details and information about this year’s important events and plans!
Looking forward to a great year and hope to see you on Tuesday evening!
This new school year is off to a great start! The chorus classes sound fantastic and the students are very enthusiastic about all the plans for our exciting year in HMS Chorus! Check out the links under HMS Chorus in the banner (below the picture above) for information about the syllabus/handbook. Uniform information will be updated soon. The calendar link has been updated with concert dates for the year as well as dates for other important events for our students.
Please check out the Honor Choruses opportunities open to HMS Chorus students. These are fantastic events for students who want to go “above and beyond” in their choral experience!
Check back often as we begin this new year!
Looking forward to another fantastic year with the HMS Chorus! Thanks for joining us!
We’ve had a great beginning to this school year! And amazingly, the first 9 weeks are officially over! Our chorus students had an excellent performance last night in their Fall Concert, we had 13 students participate in this year’s Spivey Hall Treble Honor Choir, 9 students signed up for this year’s All-State auditions (November 12), 12 students are registered for District Honor Chorus (October 28-29) and we had a great turn-out for the Talent Show auditions. (Audition results are posted on the Talent Show page!) We’ve had two successful fundraisers and the Talent Show will be our next fundraiser on Thursday, October 20. (Tickets will be $5.00 each and will be available at the door.)
Here are the upcoming performance and rehearsal dates for the second 9 weeks: (Note: the first 2 dates are 8th grade only!)
October 13: 8th Gr. Band, Orchestra, Chorus: 5th Gr. Recruitment Concert; HMS GYM; 6:00 pm
